FAQ - What is Ready to Work?

The Ready to Work Job Placement program is FREE. This job placement program is fully funded so you can use the online course, instructor lectures, and hands-on labs without having to pay anything.

The Ready to Work Job Placement program can help you find a job in your area. Here are the steps involved:

  1. Go to the Recruitment Page of your local employer. Once you apply, you will get an email with information to access a special Job Placement Portal. 
  2. You can start the 3-Part Job Training program for FREE. The program has an online course, optional lectures, and required in-person labs in your area. 
  3. After you finish the training, a Ready to Work Advisor will help you make your resume better and show you jobs that may interest you. 
  4. Your advisor will also help you fill out applications and talk to employers about interviews or background checks.

MGB has partnered with UMass Global to offer the RTW program to people interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. Once you have been placed in a job with MGB, you will receive a certificate of completion from UMass Global.

Once you have registered for the Job Placement program and accessed the secured Job Placement Portal, you can immediately begin your 3 Part Job Training program and complete the program and be ready for placement in as little as 30 days. 

  1. The online course is flexible and can be completed at your own pace, so you can finish it as quickly or slowly as you want.
  2. If you need extra help, you can attend optional Instructor Lectures online, which are held every week to support you throughout the program.
  3. Hands-On Labs are scheduled regularly in your area, so you can attend them and practice the skills you need to work in healthcare.
  4. Our advisors are always available to help you apply for jobs available with our employer partner in your area.

The starting rate of pay for Healthcare Professionals at Mass General Brigham ranges from $18.50 – $20.00 per hour. Our employer partner is hiring at several locations throughout the state of Massachusetts! Our employer partner has facilities across 29 different communities such as Beverly, Cambridge, Danvers, Lynn, Peabody, Salem and MORE.

Our employer partner has 46 on-site facilities including 17 Hospitals, 9 Community Physician Organizations, 5 Community Health Centers and 15 Affiliated Community Health Centers. 

As is outlined in this FAQ, this Job Placement program has 3 Parts including:  

  1. Self-Paced Online Course: That you can complete on your own time as your schedule permits.
  2. Optional Instructor Lectures: That are led by an instructor online.
  3. Instructor-Led Hands Ons Labs: Scheduled with an instructor in your area, to practice the skills necessary to work as a healthcare professional.

No. The Instructor Lectures are not necessary, but they can help you with the Job Placement program. Healthcare teachers will explain the course material to you and answer any questions that you have.

Yes. If you’re not working as a Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomist, or another type of healthcare worker right now, you’ll need to go to the in-person labs in your area.

Yes. After you successfully completed your program, you will be provided the opportunity to take a national and/or state certification exam. Your RTW advisor will work with you to complete the necessary steps to sit for your exam. 

Yes. As part of the RTW Job Placement program, candidates have access to advisors to help you finish your resume and get it ready to give to employers.

After the 3 Part Job Training program is complete, a Ready To Work Advisor will help you with the following:

  1. Resume – The advisor will make sure your resume includes everything important like your work history and education. 
  2. Open Job Position Review – They’ll help you decide which jobs you want to apply for and where they are located. 
  3. Application Submission – The advisor will also help finish and submit the job application for those positions.
  4. Once Finished –  After that, the advisor will check with the employer about your application to let you know if there are any updates like interviews, phone calls or background checks.

Yes and No.

Yes, there are other employers in your area who are hiring for similar positions besides our sponsoring employer partner. If you complete the 3 Part Job Training program, pass a background check, and meet other requirements, you can get a job as a healthcare professional in your area.

No, you might not be placed with our sponsoring employer partner if there are certain things that prevent it. However, we will help you find another employer in your area to work for if that happens.
